Stimulating Stunted Growth

My project will be an exploratory piece that investigates the abuse of unprescribed amphetamines among undergraduate students. The complete piece will include a literary analysis of previous research into the subject, a qualitative compilation of interviews with drug abuse counselors and mental health professionals, as well as an informative article that summates safe study practices for students at UC Santa Barbara. With the assistance of my RAAB mentor and a supervising health psychologist, I hope to understand the reach of amphetamine use for the purpose of studying and recommend alternative practices that might mitigate adverse health effects in afflicted students. In doing so, this piece will explore existing trends and professional advice to promote positive indicators of mental health in the general student body.
